When i fed my daughter on formulashe used to suffer with constipation alot, so i was always advised to give a couple of oz of cooled boiled water before every fed and this helped alot. try it and you see an improvement, but i wouldnt give your baby anything else, like what the other people have said because you will just make the situation worse. if the problem dosent clear up after about two days drinking the boiled water then i would take your baby to the doctors.

It's unfortunate you're not breastfeeding. If you were, this problem would be non-existent.
Please pass off the info to give your newborn juices etc. Your babies intestinal tract doesn't have the flora to deal with foods/liquids like that yet.
I second the switching to an iron-free formula. Anything else could make the problem worse. Using more water in the formula could cut down on the calories and fats that your baby needs to grow. That is the worse advice I have ever heard.
Also, sometimes babies can go a few days in between bowel movements, especially in artificially fed babies. The true definaition of constipation refers to the stool consistency, if they are hard and dry, then you are constipated. If they are still soft, then I don't think constipation is accurate. Perhaps just a little backed up, but not constipated. Formula sits on the digestive tract much longer than breastmilk, so you can expect your babies bowels to operate slower.

Hello, I think this is a common problem most babies go through at some stage or other but this doesn't make it any easier for you right now! Both of my little boys very constipated as babies. My eldest was worse he was on SMA gold and really struggled nothing seemed to work with him, My youngest was a little easier he is on Farleys formula and I give him cooled boiled water whenever he will drink it (he hates it!) I also gave him a splash of fresh orange juice in his water and that really helped clear him through when he was bad. It might also help to put loads of vasaline on your little ones bot and hold her legs up to her tummy if she's trying to go this really helped mine. But what I will say is don't be afraid to change her milk, my health visitor discouraged me from changing my older sons milk and I think thats why he got so bad, He ended up on lactulose which really helped him although I was worried bout his teeth as it contains a lot of sugar - He's 2 now and has no problems at all and has perfect teeth!! Sorry I rambled on a bit but I really hope it helps, please feel free to msg me if you like i'm always happy to help. Hope your little one gets on ok honey,

Do NOT give your baby Karo corn syrup or prune juice it can cause serious diarrhoea and sometimes loss in weight.
I have three children and my paediatrician and I swear by orange juice. Squeeze an orange and put a teaspoon into 4 ounces of boiled water (not pure orange juice from a carton). My mother says try a circling motion around the baby's bally button. A Circle the size of a large coin, clock wise because that is the way the bowel moves. PS my mother has had seven children so she knows what she is talking about.
Good luck and enjoy that little bundle .

I had a similar problem with my daughter when she was about this age too. I tried giving her water, but she wouldn't drink it so the Health Visitor advised me to add an extra oz of water to the OCCASSIONAL bottle of milk. i.e. if you're making 4oz feeds, use 5oz water and 4 scoops of formula. I say occassional as your baby will need the nutrients from the milk and so its important that she drinks her milk quota.
Try doing 2 feeds a day with extra water in and you should find that this helps her.
Good luck!

that's popular, and can take place at any age for any reason so don't experience you ought to justify your self approximately changing to formula. attempt gently massaging her ft from her sole to her feet some circumstances on each and each foot some time throughout the time of the day, and he or she would have the capacity to 'flow'. this is a tried and examined reflexology technique and that i've got used it 1000 circumstances over on buddies and kinfolk. additionally gently rub her tummy in a circle beginning from her good to left, as this strikes issues on somewhat to.If she hasn't been for a pair of days then see your well being centred visitor who can propose something scientific. good success sweetie

some formula feeds may cause a baby to be constipated but you need to discuss changing it with your healthvisitor, dont add extra water to the milk as it can make baby poorly, try her with cool boiled water or baby juice
