It's probably the heating element. If you can put it in by yourself and get some one to do it for you it will only cost about $35 for the part. If you call a repair man about $75 more.
Take your model # and serial # with you to the appliance store and if the don't have one in stock they can order you one.

It might not be the heating element. There is a thermal fuse that will pop if the dryer gets too hot. You can check it with an ohm meter. The timer might be the problem also. The controls are just a bunch of switches wired in series, check each switch and the element until you find the defective part.

It sounds like the heating drum is shot, one other thing, please check the knobs on top and make sure that they are not turned on NO HEAT, or FLUFF.
Nine to ten years is about the life span for dryers.
I would call around to to different places, like heating and cooling or whoever works with them, and check out the cost, before looking into a new one, it may be the only part you need.

Sounds like the heating element has gone bad. You can get a new dryer for that same price if you shop around.

Check where the dryer vents to the outside. Mine was clogged so bad once that no air was going outside and the dryer had water on the inside of the door.
