Oil companies do not control the price per barrel of oil. This is set by groups like Opec and is dependent on market forces including production levels and supply/demand. Now if you are referring to the price per gallon of gasoline this would be closer to what the oil companies actually control. However even in this area actual realities do not fit your conspiracy. There have not been major spikes in the price per gallon following the election, but if it should happen I will be happy to concede your point at that time.

kreevich: You just don't get it, do you? Higher taxes only result in one thing, higher prices. Companies do not just absorb higher costs and take the hit on their profit margins, they pass that cost to the consumers. Want to investigate possible price gouging and maybe even discuss price controls I can see that as a reasonable possibility, but higher taxes never benefit consumers.

No. It is no different from a Government lowering taxes right before an election in order to fool people into thinking that the economy has turned the corner and everything will be a bed of roses from here on in (assuming that you vote for the same party).

Yes, and investigate the pundits, the party leaders, the candidates and TV for running those darn political ads.

But seriously, last time I checked trying to influence an election is not illegal.

the closest difficulty to treason i've got considered or heard is Cheney giving help and convenience to the enemy with the aid of telling them its risk-free to stroll on in because of the fact Obama is vulnerable. different than that, the chair of the United protection council isn't a distant places government or entity. No King, Prince, or distant places state is in fee of the workplace in any respect.

Yes, but don't expect the administrative branch of government to investigate its financial backers, they just put up a front man for an investigation and don't let it go anywhere to make it look good.

Should politicians be investigated for trying to influence...everything?

If you want the [oil] companies out of congress' pocket, get congress out of the biz of business.

They should be investigated for price gouging, and be slapped with a Windfall Profits Tax. Their profits went up extremely, because of political and weather conditions, and their expenses did not.
