I want to get my mom a christmas gift she will really like. Something maybe different and special. The cost doesn't really matter. Any ideas are great!

What does she like to do? Does she love to cook or bake? Get her a fantastic new cookbook or a standing mixer....it makes everything so much easier. does she have any favorite crafts? Get her some new craft supplies or tools. Is she a big music lover? Get her some concert tickets or an MP3 player. Does she like photography? How about a digital camera? Without knowing her interests or talents,it is hard to advise so think of what she likes to do the most and choose something that will enhance her interests.

The best gifts are thoughtful and show that you know a person so well that you can guess what he/she would love to have. Often, this is something that can make their lives easier or more comfortable that you discovered by listening, really listening, to them. There are very few 'mass appeal' gifts that can really make a person feel special. Therefore, I don't have a specific idea for you, but here are some clues that might help:

1. What is her greatest regret? Did she always want to go to xyz place and do abc? Take her there and do that?

2. Is she adventurous? Introduce her to something totally new to her and she will never forget it.

3. What part of her day would she skip if she could? Can you give her something to make her life less tedious?

4. What are some of your favorite memories from growing up with her? Can you recapture them in a thoughtful gift?

5. Make her something to show her that you're willing to give up time, which is more appreciated than money (even if time is money).

Edit: I know I said that it would be hard to do 'thoughtful' with mass appeal, but I was shopping on-line today at red envelope and thought of you. What about a necklace that has the birthstones of all of her children in it?

Go to starbucks and get her some nice coffee or tea gift sets; The Body Shoppe or Bath and Body Works have some excellent bath gift ideas, a gift certificate for a day of beauty to your mother's favorite hair and/or nail salon always goes over big. Perhaps you could join her and make it really special.

The fact of having you with her on Christmas is the best gift you can give her. Nobody can pay that.

Anything engraved usually works well - I like doing the picture frame thing. Get a picture of the two of you framed and them have something significant and special engraved on it.

How about a personalized poem, framed and signed by you? It would be a special poem that has details of her and your relationship in it. It would be something she'd treasure forever. I write these types of poems and don't charge much. A frame would be more, but you could frame it yourself.

i'd try getting them gag variety presents that also have a objective. Like strange patterned band-aids or a humorous t-shirt. customize it to a minimum of something they do and that they are going to relish it, and thinks it particularly is humorous each and every time they use/positioned on the present you acquire them!
