It can cause damage to the eye. The shell that is. The yolk itself is virtually harmless. The egg, if raw could have bacteria still in it. If it was raw then I suggest disinfecting it with green tea (yes, green tea) it works. If it was hardboiled do the same thing. Most of all DON'T PANIC YOU'LL BE FINE!
