The most common one is roach taps which the roach eats the bait and brings back to the nest and kills the nest. Another thing you may want to try is mixing 1 part of red chile pepper with 2 parts water in a sprayer bottle and spray around and in drains roaches hate the pepper and won't return.

When we lived in an apartment building years ago, we had an infestation. I bought BORIC ACID powder at the local Dollar Store. It came in a yellow bottle with a pointed tip. Put it along the baseboards throughout the house. Needless to say, you may not want to use this if you have nosy pets that may get into it...or small kids.

We kinda took the extreme approach. We also used one of those foggers you set off, and left the place for a few hours. Hopefully these two things combined will work for you. If it is a house and not an apartment or condo (being attached to someone else's home), it should work for you, since you won't have to be worried about them coming back thru the walls of a neighbor.

Move out!

No, Take all of your electronics (anything with a power cord or batteries) and place them into a giant garbage bag. Spray the inside corners of the bag with raid and tie it tight, leave for a few days. Place all food stuffs into Tupperware containers. Empty your bathroom and kitchen cabinets and place items into bags, tie tight, empty dresser drawers. Get roach bombs and place into ever room in house. Set them off and leave for a few days. Return with a mop bucket and sponges, broom and dust pan and get to cleaning. Do so as thoroughly as possible!

Now, if this is a one family house, a few bombings and some roach motels should clear you of your problem. If you live in an apartment, you are screwed. Roaches migrate into the other apartments when poison is administered and often return once it passes. If you live in an apartment or condo, be sure that the management does the extermination in the entire building, that way the roaches cannot run and hide.

Also keep in mind that eggs germinate, sometimes you have to exterminate so that you kill the hatchlings as well.

Leave all your stuff in the house. Drench the house in gasoline. Go out outside remove the clothing you are wearing. Throw those clothes back into the house. Strike a match and watch the roaches run the neighbors house. Go find a new house and get dressed.
That is the best way I can think of to rid you self of roaches.

Use boric acid (I got mine at a Rite-Aid store) and powdered sugar mixed together. The sugar attracts them and the boric acid will kill them. They have the same consistency and the roaches don't realize what they are eating until it's too late. Put the mixture on something you can slide under and in cabinets and behind furniture. (make sure your animals can't get to it)

Good Luck...

Boric acid, it is very effective when used properly for killing cockroaches and most other insects. You can also get a house lizard, they are natural enemies and will eat them. More information at http://tinyurl.com/ofxkk
