All of the above, plus, make good use of white space. User readable fonts, don't have a lot of distracting animations, use graphics that download and display quickly, have the page fit within a reasonalble screen resolution. Don't use annoying colors.

First you want the Index page to open quickly and without a lot of clutter of banners and advertisements. Then you want to place you content so that it can be found quickly. A person will decide within the first 30 seconds if the site has what they want. Make every page look like the first so they know that they are still on your site. Keep it organized and clean. Don't use a lot of flash stuff. It makes the site take forever to load. I hate that. Always make sites such that they can load quickly. Thank you in advance.
