You can have a temporary order from the court prior to a divorce or you can file with the child support agency in some states who will issue you an administrative order as well.

In most cases you can still get child support if you are married and separated. You need to talk to your social worker or the welfare departnent to make sure. They can help you in many ways to get what you need, they can also help you get a divorce if you plan on getting one.

If your spouse has left you and you have no means of support you have to file for divorce and ask the court for interim support until the decree is final.

Call your local child support agency instead of relying on a forum such as this for information that will affect you and your child's life.
