One would have to be a hardcore communist to think that those news media organizations you listed above have a conservative bent.
They are very much liberal.

You are 100 % correct. NBC and ABC were realistically moderate before being bought out by conservative companies, General Electric bought NBC and Disney bought ABC. Fox and CC have always been conservative, they make no apologies for it, they are proud of it. Problem is, conservatism does not work. It was the economic system that produced boom and bust cycles ending in the Great Depression following the Crash of 1929, so bringing that system back is economic suicide. Yet look at the statistics--the Middle Class has voted for its own extinction by voting Republican--coddling the rich at the expense of the ordinary citizen. Oh well, its what they voted for. My God, they voted in 2004 for a system that gives tax breaks to companies for sending their own jobs overseas. How was the Middle Class conned into voting for their own extinction? By the Republican owned media!!! Which always makes such a stupid noise about the media being liberal!! People have to start seeing thru this BS or the place will end up like a Banana Republic with 5 or 10 families owning everything, and everybody else dirt poor peasants. That is the Republican track.

I believe there is a liberal bias in mainstream media. It is not as pronounced as some would have people believe, but it also not as non existent as others purport. I think there is a misinterpretation in this area by liberals. They hear Conservatives say the media is biased and misinterpret the statement to mean that the media is lying. Much of what the media reports is true, the problem is that they are one sided in their reporting. Republican and Conservative negatives get over reported while Democrat and liberal negatives get a virtual pass. This is the very definition of biased. Yet Fox which is without a doubt slanted towards Conservatives drives them nuts, so therefore they only appear to believe media is fair if nothing favorable to the other side is ever reported.
niko: The big lie theory? You mean like Dan Rather and staff fabricating documents and then when caught in the web of their own deceit defending it by saying "The story is true even if our evidence is false"?

This "liberal media" hysteria is a Watergate hangover. The Nixon White House started screaming "liberal media press" as a means of defending itself. Apparently, the media should only report on the wrongdoings of Democratic Presidents rather than that of the GOP. It's a fallacy to say that the media is liberal at all. The media is not independent any longer and is owned by multi-nationals. Name 1 cooperation that isn't on the far right, and I'll name you the 1 media outlet on the left.

Why do people even regard the media with conservative or liberal views. They all run the same stories told throgh different peoples mouths who try to out do each other and make the story somthing bigger. They all pick at somones story regardless of who it is. I have seen FOX down the pres I have seen CNN down democrats. Its all about the ratings and getting people to watch their news programs so the companys will pay more money to have their commercials ran. Its all about the money period!

Because even conservative media has to acknowledge the facts, like it or not. The slant is in the way they deal with those facts, whether it's laying blame on Democrats or the man in the moon. When they are forced to acknowledge their conservative base is shredding apart, they begin to look liberal by comparison to their previous stand on the issues. Before the mid-terms the conservative media was still in full swing. Now, due to popular opinion and mountains of evidence, they find themselves in the position of having to admit this war was a mistake. I guess to those who previously relied on them to support their far right wing platform, this must seem "liberal."

You are correct. And note how quickly the neocon YA patrol pounced on your question.
It is a well calculated political ploy. The media can't skew the information they choose to release enough to make the neocon position look good without ending up in court. So by going along with the"liberal press" fantasy the psychology is that people are supposed to believe things are not really that bad.
Fascism.

They don't really believe that the media is liberal, it's just their strategy, it's the big lie theory, elaborated by their greatest theorist, adolph hitler, ... if you repeat the same lie often enough, people will eventually believe it. Republicans love their big lie theory and they use it all the time.

When they complain about "the Liberal Media" they're not saying that all the media is liberal. They're really implying that liberal opinions should not ever be expressed. They're Fascists, that's why!
