The short answer is: yes. You are supposed to serve if you are a surgeon or dentist, teacher, librarian or whatever????

You can see if you can get dismissed. Most times people who are the sole caretakers of children, elderly or disabled persons are dismissed, so a childcare provider would probably fit in those circumstances IF you are the sole provider or run the business.

I think if you just work there, you may not be allowed to pass just as a computer software designer wouldn't be allowed to skip.

Jury duty isn't fun, but having a diverse group of people in a jury is part of what is good about the US. What it be like if only non-working people filled our juries? You would only have the wealthy and the retired deciding guilt or innocence.

If you have to go, make the best of it, and THANK YOU for doing your duty.

Have a great day.

You can get out of it probably, i got out of it by saying i was the sole care provider for my child who was not in school at the time. There should be a place on the paper you received in the mail that has a place where you can request being let out of it for specific reasons if not then it surly has a # to call just call it and tell them you care for children and have no one else to do it ,they should let you out of it!

A jury is a group of people who were too dumb to get out of jury duty.

my hubby says yes if you are a registered voter. Even business owners have to shut down or find a replacement ..they all feel it is their civic duty.
I don't vote....but he feels it's his duty to serve.
Anyone can come up with a lame excuse. You better hope a loving , caring person wants to be there if you go to trial.
