Is it just me, or have British Gas doubled their prices?? I pay on a card and then use the gas i have bought, just like a pay as you go mobile. The last 6 weeks i have somehow gone from using my average £10 p/w, to having to put in excess of £40 p/w into the pre-pay meter. If i dont, i cant use my central heating or hot water. Its finacially cripling me trying to keep up with this increase and i find that every spare penny goes towards the gas! British Gas have offered nothing in way of explanation, other than a lousy post on their web site, saying its normal if customers are using more gas because they have increased their prices!!! Yeah, tell me something i didnt know!

just a tip. Read your meter everyday and write down your consumption, that way you can actually check how much you use and compare your usage from day to day. Would it not be cheaper to switch from prepay to normal meter and you can still pay money into your account weekly by signing up to e-mail billing with your supplier and just put a small amount in each week. Also you can submit your meter readings online so there wouldn't be any estimated accounts. Good luck

I sympathise, I am not with British Gas and I pay by direct debit but my payments doubled last year over the summer!!! I am dreading my winter bill. I really feel for the pensioners in this country who are too afraid to put the heating on for fear of not being able to afford their bills.

Yeah it's disgusting! Something like up 50% from last year is what i heard. U-switch it pretty good for finding someone cheaper. I have just changed over to Scottish Power. Switched the electric to them a while ago and it's lasting much longer :) Good luck...

this time last year i was putting roughly £10 a week on, that has risen now to £25-£35 a week, its a bloody rip off, but i cant afford t pay for bills outright (because im one of those ones who says "ill pay it next week), i suppose this is my repayment for not doing it that way, they certainly know how to make the poor poorer and the rich richer in this country!
