Best FREE antivirus is AVG Antivirus
You can get it at http://www.download.com or at http://www.grisoft.com
At "download.com" you can read the publisher's notes on it, the Editors Review, and the User Reviews. It is really rated high and it does not eat up your system resources like a Norton or a McAfee will.
Give AVG a try. I think you will like it.
