RE:
Why do people say, "West, by God, Virginia"?
Instead of saying "West Virginia" I always hear people say "West, by God, Virginia". Does anyone know the origin of this phrase?

This is just my personal opinion okay! I think the " West" should form an union with other countries in the regions ( such as Arabs, Syria etc) to against Iran's movement , put strong restrictment on economic and political isolation. The "West" should seek advice from the region experts ( especially religious leaders). When those religious leaders speak up in that region, there would be more people listen. I dont think Israel has the right to do a preemptive strike, it can ask for international force to pressure on Iran, but not attack Iran by itself. Look what happened in Lebanon. It only gonna bring up more hatred toward Israel.

It's a way of adding emphasis on their pride in having come from there or from living there. WV is sometimes the butt of people's jokes, because of its poor economy and "perceived" backwardness (it's in the heart of Appalachia). So folks that live there get tired of the abuse and it makes them act even MORE proud to be a West Virginian.
Plus there are so many geographically illiterate people in the country, that probably 3/4 of them don't even know that WV is its own state. They think you're from the 'western part of Virginia.' Never mind that WV has been a state since 1863!

We need to find a way to enact regime change in Iran. One of the unfortunate fall outs of the Iraq war going so poorly is it will be difficult to get support for military action to depose Ahmadinijad. We should certainly agreesively support opposition groups in Iran and help them rise up and overthrow the current government. I think Israel has shown great restraint already, but I don't think they should wait until they're nuked to take action against Iran. Obviously if they wait until that happens, they've waited too long. It's a shame. There is not simple answer the this. No answer that isn't likely to result in significant loss of life.
