Not sure why you're taking a poll, but I agree with your comment to Indy...he does sound a bit defensive. However, I have been in a monogamous relationship with my male spouse for 12 years; and the relationship continues to grow deeper in our love and respect of one another. By "closed" I am assuming you mean monogamous. "Open" generally means it's agreed upon by both in the relationship that each party can date, have sex with, etc with others as well. See what "Puffy" said.

Sorry to sound cynical, but if you rephrase your question, you could get some honest answers..."How many of you gay couples THINK you have closed relationships?"
Like our straight counterparts, "the wife is always the last to know." In my humble opinion (I was humble 12 years ago), those who think they are in a closed relationship are either delusional or bored to tears. Why is it that monogamy has become the number one consideration in a relationship? I have found that striving for monogamy leads to so many really bad issues that the relationship dies of other causes. So much time and energy spent on so little of value. If emphasis were placed on trust that the other will be there in the evening, that the other will always practice safe sex when out of the home, then where is the problem. I have seen far too many relationships built soley on the basis of monogamy that had little else going for them. Monogamy does NOT replace love and trust. Monogamy is a Straight issue, not a Gay issue.

Well, I am single and dating now. But when in a relationship it is monogamous.
I know a lot of people both gay and straight who do not seem capable of this though.

With all due respect to Goldwing, having a closed relationship doesn't mean that there couldn't be cheating. It just implies that there is no agreement that there could be outside playing around.
And I have with closed relationship with my BF (monogamous).

I do.
I think if you are either both horney or both not horney it will work having a closed relationship. It's when one is too horney and the other isn't that most guys begin to look outside.

I'm single and unattached, but were I to be in a relationship, it would be closed and monogamous.

My relationship is not an "open" one. We are monogamous.
Not that it's any of your business...so are you asking the same question of the heterosexual swingers or just attempting to find a reason to pass judgment on others lives? It doesn't affect you so why are you asking?
