No, i say dont do anything that isn't naturally in your character. In any other situation (say u and ur boss got along and u were up for a promotion) i'd tell you to work a lil harder perhaps put in a few extra hrs, but in this instance if ur boss doesnt respect u,dont demean yourself by kissing up.
If you did and his/her behavior didnt change, you might feel foolish to trying to in the 1st place. At any rate, you should report your boss to HR, no one deserves to be disrespected in the work place.
