We have enough people coming through the education system hating America, we don't need more, even if it would be more honest. Real history books are honest, the stuff you find in classrooms is kinda propagandaish, but you really don't want to tell little children about the bad things the US did. It would not be good to risk raising a child taught to believe that the US is a terrible nation, would it? I've not known a country in history to tell its children about all the skeletons in its closet, so this is not some unique phenomenon to the US. Furthermore, the real truth does exist, and can be found, for those that care.

No, for a spanish speaking individual to succeed in the USA, that person needs to speak English. Sure spanish people could speak spanish among themselves but they will never break out of the class structure unless they learn how to speak English well. As far as our history books reading "once upon a time," those books were written by the victorious, and they could write anything they want.

No, but in another 40 years the US will have a minority majority and the history books will say "Once upon a time caucasians, who had ruled the country since they settled in the colonies, no longer make up the majority of the people. Who would've thunk?"

Who knows? Early in our history someone (from Pennsylvania?) proposed that German be our national language. But I doubt Spanish will take over in the US as English is the global language of business, and money talks.

Does everyone forget that California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas were all taken from the Mexicans? And don't tell me about the Gadsden Purchase making it legal. We instigated a war with the sole intent of taking land. When Hitler and Napoleon did it, they were internationally attacked. Anyone see much of a difference?
They're just taking it back, little by little... and why not?
