I've already added one litre...do I need to put in more or is that too much? It doesn't have a gauge or a dip stick. The compressor was a gift and didn't come with a manual, and the brand is one of those generic brands (probably out of China) called American Force (no, not from the tire company). Any ideas?

If you don't have a sight gauge (the plug you;d use to drain the oil to change it) the best way is to measure what came out when new. However, its too late for that for your compressor-Call a service center-all i can tlel you i have a 3 gallon husky compressor and NO SIGHT GAUGE!!! i removed the plug I measured what came out, it was about 6 or 7 ounces. DO NOT OVERFILL it will blow out the seals on the pump! the guy who said "3 QUARTS" is almost certainly wrong!

if so, use at once 30 or 40 WT oil, no longer multiviscosity like 15W-30W. in case you're exterior in the iciness, i.e. -10 levels, evaluate 20 WT. wish that facilitates, oh by making use of the way, do no longer overfill the unit, you're able to break it. verify out the dip stick or point indicator

Wherever you filled it from, it should be roughly just below that fill cap.
