You use the first word from your bibliographic entry in parentheses at the end of your cited information, inside the period, but outside the quoatation marks. Like this :

One aspect of Dukas Lubadago’s life that influenced him the most was his relationship with his neighbor, who was a famous scientist. “Young Dukas visited his neighbor often and was fascinated by the scientific process, and the endless possibilities of what the future of science held” (Smith 28).

Parenthetical documentation or parenthetical citations are used to document any external sources used within a document (unless the material cited is considered general knowledge). If you are unsure whether or not your information is general knowledge, cite it. Always better to be safe than sorry. The parenthetical citations direct readers to the full bibliographic citations listed in the Works Cited, located at the end of the document. So this is why even if you have a works cited page, citations in the actual slides will help the reader/viewer know which info came from which source. In MLA format, the citations should look something like this: "quotes, words, whatever your sentence is about" (Author's Last Name Page # found). If there is more than one author, you list their LAST names separated by commas. Example: "quotes, words, whatever your sentence is about" (Author #1, Author #2 Page #). If you've already mentioned the author's names in the same sentence, you only need to put the page number at the end: In his article, Author wrote "quotes, words, whatever your sentence is about" (Page #). You can check out more variations on this type of citing in the link in the source section. Hope this helps! Good luck on your presentation!
