Yes we have at least one "thunder snow" in Nebraska every Year. I think it's kind of cool. It's usually happens after we have a really warm day and a really cold "cold front" comes through on it's tail. It's starts as a thunderstorm but it's cold enough at the surface that it changes to snow before it hits the ground.
Here is the Wikipedia explanation.

It sometimes happens here in the Seattle area where we have the "Puget Sound Convergence Zone". Weather systems get split by the Olympic Pennisula and will come in from both the north by way of the Straits of Juan de Fuca and from the south by way of Gray's Harbor and Olympia.
The convergence zone ususally occures between the towns of Lynnwood and Everett.
Just last week we had a wild, but brief convergence zone disturbance that included high wind, lightening, and soft hail or wet snow. The hail was heavy enough to coat the roads with a slippery slurry that caused some wrecks. Sometimes these convergenc zone disturbances will also cause snow.

Yes and thunder. But I am not sure if what I saw qualifies. It was a rain storm that turned to sleet and then turned to a blizzard.
By the way, that was an awful storm. everything was covered in 1/2 inch of ice before the snow came. Huge trees split in half from the weight, power lines snapped due to the weight, car doors were sealed shut, door lock (even the house ones) were full of ice. I will never forget that storm.

I have seen it, it is an awesome sight... something that makes you glad you were there to see it. And snowstorms are just storms in the winter, when it's cold enough to snow. So the same circumstances which cause lightning and thunder in the summer can cause lightning and thunder in the winter. It just doesn't happen as often.

Yes, it has happened, In fact, it happened in Massachusetts last year during a storm. There is a meteorological (sp) term for that and when it does happen with thunder it causes the snow to fall harder and faster. To get the exact term, call yoru local National Weather Service and they would be able to help.
