Carlos: Yes, he has a big bat to protect Lance, and some speed.

Woody: No, his numbers are good, but St. Louis knows his stuff inside and out.

Yes, they will help the Astros, Carlos Lee will give an outstanding bat to support Lance Berkman, and Woody Williams could settle the pitching staff but he is uncertain

Yes to Lee. Lee's power will increase due to the short LF porch at Minute Maid. And his poor defense will be reduced due to the same porch. But they grossly overpaid for him as he is out of shape and will be set for a DH-role within 3-4 years. He's making a few thousand dollars less than Soriano. But similar to the Cubs situation, if they end up winning a championship, the overpaying and limited use for Lee over the years will be shunned. As for Woody, he's an average pitcher and should get to double-digits wins, 11-12 at most.

I think Carlos Lee will help a little. I think he's just going to be about a .270 hitter with maybe 35 home runs. Woody Williams is getting older. His last 2 years haven't been good at all. He's getting worse and worse. So unless a coach lites a fire underneath them...they're just going to be normal players...nothing fantastic.

Williams will help them because they need a consistant starting pitcher. But I probably wouldn't give Woody Williams a two year contract. Lee I thhink will help them in the first 3 years but in the last 3 years he'll be old and his body type wont allow him to be productive in the final 3 years of that deal.

Carlos Lee - yes they definitely need a power threat to go along with Berkman. Woody- NO- at best he's a mediocre pitcher who's at least 3 years past his prime, who can contribute nothing to the mix. Re- sign Pettite and 1 other pitcher; Make Roy O your number 1 starter.

No. There is no way they are taking out someone in the outfield to put Lee in and Woody is horrible!
