If, as I assume, your CO detector is battery driven then change the battery. It is designed to go off when the battery needs changing. If the new battery does the same thing as the old battery. Then you need to do something. The problem is both CO and CO2 detectors are famous for failing, and if your call turns out to be your fault you may end up being charged for the call--way more than the cost of a new CO detector.

I would call the gas company for recommendations. That way if anyone else in your neighborhood has reported similar problems they will be aware faster that their might be a problem. I would open your windows and air it out as well. You don't want to get sick from excessive exposure to carbon monoxide. That is why you have the detector.

get out of the apartment, call the fire dept., they will pinpoint the problem. If you have a problem with one of your gas appliances they will shut off all of your gas service until it is repaired. Good luck.
