If it's a huge error that makes it hard to understand what you mean then people are right to point it out because they may not be answering the question you think you're asking.

If it's small people may correct you as a way to get 2 points or they may genuinely want to let you know that you have made an error, if it's quite a big one.

I find it easier to just check my spelling.

lol it depends if you can not even read/understand what the persons saying then its annoying. But if its a few silly mistakes its a bit petty to point them out.
I have to say my spelling has got worse because I type alot more than I write so I just rely on spell check!
Its not a good thing.

You don't have to check it. Just click on the check spelling above the box and yahoo will do it for you. It's not that hard.

Interesting.

I look upon it as a kind of mental grooming, if you will.

For example, I brush out my hair each day, and I keep the dishes under control. I keep my car in good repair, and gassed up. I keep my bills up to date.

I prefer to keep myself mentally organized, too; this extends to such details as knowing my facts before I speak, and keeping track of appointments.

I try my best to spell correctly, as this is another sign of organization and attention to detail. It speeds the process of reading (no one needs to stop and try to figure out what I am saying, or trip over incorrectly selected homonyms), which is courteous to the reader.

People who correct sub-standard spelling here are reacting to the disorganization and, therefore, the disregard the writer shows them.

They are right to do so.

Well, sometimes the spelling is so bad, you can't understand the question or what they are trying to ask. If you truly want a good answer, you should care if people can read it. Welcome to the real world.

YES!
I hate those people who like to show their "education". I'm typing very fast and always have some typing mistakes...
