If you overstay a tourist visa in the USA you become a part of the underground community of ILLEGAL ALIENS.

You are subject to arrest and deportation. And you might not be allowed to immigrate legally after deportation. Some illegal immigrants work the system and end up staying many years while manipulating and stalling deportation, but why? All they are doing is making shady immigration lawyers rich.

Please do NOT overstay your visa. You will not be able to get a good job, accrue social security benefits, go to college, or do any of the things native born/or naturalized US citizens can do.

If you want to live in the USA full time, go to the US consulate in your country and apply to become a LEGAL resident with intent to become a citizen. This LEGAL route may take a year or so, but at least you're doing it LEGALLY.

A LEGAL Resident Alien can apply for a LEGAL Social Security card and gain legal employment in the USA. Some jobs requiring security clearances might not be available to you, but you'll be free to work anywhere else.

DO NOT OVERSTAY YOUR TOURIST VISA! Do not begin your life in the USA by breaking the law.

nothing, unless you get involved with the police and they ask for your ID...then you're in deep ****. don't challenge US immigration. once you have something on your record, you will never be permitted to come back.

PS to IndieFilm: immigrating legally to the US is not as easy as you demonstrate it. I am a legal immigrant, I went through it all of it. It took about 2 and a half years, cost me a lot of money and I had to have lots of qualifications. Plus: I was very very lucky. It's not as easy as it used to be, trust me. However, legal immigration is the only way to go if you want to have a honest and successful life.
