My name is Roja, I got married in 1995 (a settled marriage only). My husband has a illegal affairs with some body else and my husband left me. I had a son of one year when he left the home. I am waiting for him. But could not trace him. Already 11 years completed. Now my child is 11 years.
In 2000 at my office, one of my co working staff asked me to marry. I refused and told the flash back. What had happen to me and also I had a child. But with the help of their friends and colony people he got married me in registered office (law and order & government rules and regulation). He works in Indian army.
My problem is my husband was not yet all introducing me to their parents and relative. More over he was not informing at the office as wife.
And now he was telling that, from my first husband I have to take divorce.
Please suggest me what should I do now.

Things are a little different over there then here, But I would sit him down and talk too him about this and let him know that by him not telling his family that you feel like he is ashamed of you and you don't understand. It could be that he wants you to have the divorce final before he introduces you to his family and here in the US it is not wise to tell people that your coworker is your wife, most companies over here have a problem with there employees getting married to each other. I would also ask him how will things be once you get your divorce from first husband. If he answers this question not to your liking then tell him so. Good luck.

The legal position: You CAN NOT marry a second time until and unless you have got a divorce (legal separation) from your first spouse. So your second marriage is illegal. Hence he can not officially declare you as his wife in his service records for the aforesaid reason. You will not be entitled to any financial benefits or otherwise from his service if he predeceases you. You may discontinue living with your second husband if you want and get a divorce from your first husband till such time.

i think he loved you very much, and wanted to marry you, and he did. just that now he realises that there could be trouble. be very discreet and quiet about your marriage, he is right. just quietly go get the divorce from the first husband. and then i'm sure he will be proud to introduce you as his wife. be patient until this problem is solved.

Consult an attorney for legal implications. Also be sure that eventually you will be registered as the "wife" of your husband now, so you can have rights like any army wife has.
