The Britis are far from perfect, but they are quite civilize compared with the many nation-states who have achieved such dominance that they have invaded and took over other countries.
One, therefore, is tempted to say that the United Kingdom would be a first-rate country to dominate the United States. Certainly, one can expect that England would have eased its exploitative policies toward the colonies.
But the one thing that would be missing is that the capital of the colonies would be thousands of miles away. That is not conducive to good government. On the other hand, we have the example of Hawaii -- one of the 50 states -- but 5,000 miles away from Washington D.C. As time goes on, distance bceomes less of an obstacle. Still, there are independence movements in Hawaii.

This is an excellent question...it's thought-provoking.
It would certainly have been a different place; I think it's safe to say that our system of law would be different, as would our taxation rate.
But, as England ceded control of her colonies over the years, I feel confident that America would eventually have been an independent nation in time.
I don't know that America would have been a better place; I feel the U.S. has the edge on England in many important ways.

That seems unlikely.
The English lost their American colonies because they had ceased to treat the Americans like subjects of England, entitled to the protections of English law -- protections which the English, desperate for tax revenue and cannon fodder, literally could not afford to extend to the colonists. Sooner or later, the colonies would have broken away from the mother country, because they simply had to do it.

I respect all the British rules and laws. Yes, America would have been a better place under the British. Look at what is happening in America. The illegal immigrants are swallowing the U.S trying to impose their culture and language. I am sick and tired of those illegal folks.

LOL. Britain is pretty much under the American flag. Your television, culture, most of your music is American ... plus if you're ever in the UK you see U.S.-owned businesses EVERYwhere. .... Who's your daddy????
