I am assuming you are not being treated by a doctor for your problem. Antacids do not work very well if you are having frequent acid reflux symptoms. Antacids simply neutralize the acid currently in your stomach. Your stomach continues to produce acid and in about 1 hour, you are having the same problem again. Worse yet, there is thought to be a relationship between calcium carbonate (usually the active ingredient in calcium based antacids) and the release of a hormone that stimulates acid production. Alka-seltzer isn't a product I would recommend using long term. It contains aspirin, which can have an effect on the lining of your stomach. If you are having stomach problems, this will only make the problem worse. Pepto is a pretty good product. I prefer the liquid form. It coats the esophogas and helps relieve acid reflux symptoms for a couple of hours. However, in the end, it works like an antacid. Within a few hours, your troubles may be back. If you are having frequent problems at night, you might want to consider an OTC H2 inhibitor like Zantac or Pepcid. These work by blocking histamine in your system which is link to increased acid production in your stomach. As for gas...you need a medicine containing Simethicone. A type of Pepto has it. Alka-Seltzer doesn't that I have ever seen. I'd recommend just going to Wal-Mart and picking up a pack of their anti-gas soft gels.

somewhat!
The original Alka-Seltzer is a remedy for headache, indigestion and hangover. Made by the U.S.-based Miles Laboratories, Alka-Seltzer is a combination of aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid), baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) and citric acid, designed to treat pain and simultaneously neutralize excess stomach acid (the "Alka" being derived from the word "alkali").

It does for me. If not Alka Seltzer, then Andrews. They're both brilliant.

Alka Seltzer makes your stomach instantly expand like a cartoon character with a running garden hose stuck down their throat. Then you feel rotten awful nausea like you're about to toss your cookies but then - voila - you have the world's biggest burp and the relief is unbelievable. It's like Buckleys cough syrup, it's awful but yes by gum it works!

Some thyroid disorders can be cured, but many require lifetime treatment. Learn here https://tr.im/eWjGE
For example, sometimes early stage thyroid cancer can be cured by surgery to remove the thyroid gland, but you will need to take thyroid hormone medication afterwards for the rest of your life. Goiters can also be surgically removed and do not always recur after surgery. In most cases, thyroid disorders need treatment over a lifetime. However, with treatment most people with thyroid disorders can live normal, healthy lives.
