I just read the new biography of Jimmy Stewart. He was really, really upset when Ted Turner colorized "It's a Wonderful Life." He even went before Congress to say that he believed colorizing should not be done to movies because it changes them from the artist's original vision. I think it makes them look sugary and sweet and stupid and the colors are not true to life. It's like putting another layer of paint over the Mona Lisa.

I'm afraid I can't find a colourized version. Here are some
other things I dug up though.

Ted Turner owns the rights and he colourized the original.

It's a Wonderful Life (60th Anniversary Edition) (1947)

Amazon.com says it's in color but according
to the reviewers it's not. (*NOT IN COLOR*)

The original black and white one is still the best and would not want to see it coloured in it would lose all it's charm. There was a remake recntly called The Family Man with Nicolas Cage and Tea Leoni, I really liked it.

Don't buy it - it's much better in the original black & white!

Someone did a colourised version of Scrooge, starring Alistair Sim, too - it was dreadful!!

you should watch the film as it was meant to be - black & white!

There is a version in color, but the black and white is so much better! If you really want it try Best Buy or Ebay

I believe someone did get ahold of it and colorized it. I hate colorization. It looks so fake. Give me the old black and white version anyday. One time I tried to watch the colorized version of "Casablanca" and I almost vomited. I had to shut it off. DON'T F**K WITH OUR CLASSICS!

I just hope it wasn't, it is my most favourite film ever, especially at Christmas Time. Let us keep something sacred!!

I taped me a color version of it about two years ago off of Lifetime channel, I think that some store should have it.
