The best time to start is whenever your child seems interested in potty training. Our Amish neibors children are potty trained before just before they turn two. My brother however wasnt potty trained until he turned 4. It all depends on you child.

Get the baby used to the potty by sitting them on it before they are a year old. My son would alway go to the same place to have a poo, so I watch for this, strip him down and sit him on the potty. This was from 6 months.

You will not get total sucess on the potty before they are 2 though. Summer is the best as they can be dressed in less. Both of mine were potty trained in August.

My son turned 2 in aug and we are just starting with him. My mom started potty training all 4 of us kids when we were 18 months. My son started following us into the bathroom when he was about 1 1/2, but he screamed the first few times we tried to put him on the potty chair.

Anybody who suggests there is a 'proper' age to do this is crazy! As a mum of three, i know that all children potty train at different ages and some are better than others. When i was potty training my twin boys 5 years ago, even they did it at completely different times. 6 months apart! The only guideline you should take into account is that children are required to be 'clean' when they start nursery aged 3.

When they are showing interest. If they are following you to the potty to watch you go, thats a good sign, and if they can stay dry for 1 to 2 hours at a time. Make sure you teach them the difference between wet and dry and clean and dirty (dirty meaning poopy of course). And right before you start get there favorite stuffed toy and put training undies on them and have your child potty train there favorite stuffed toy. It really helps them along.
somewhere between 2 1/2 and 3 years old is a good age to start and tends to take about a week depending on your approach and your chids readiness.

as a nursery nurse ive found if the child has language it is easier for them to potty train. ive known children potty train at one and a half most people start at the age of two though. Pull ups are good for the feel of pants but i dont think they are good as the child knows they will not get wet when the wee. its best to put them in pants so the child can understand the consequence of not going to the toilet good luck.

Wait till your child is ready. My health vistor was asking me at my sons 2 year check up why he wasnt potty trained yet!! I think you need to leave it up to the child to decide when they are ready. Dont push them into it. My son is now 2 1/2 and did his potty training a few months ago and is now dry during the day. We've got a way to go before he's dry at night but during the day is the main thing.

Depends on the child; each one is different. I have 5. The first one , a girl, I started to potty train at 16 months.I know now that it was too early.
My second and subsequent kids I waited longer and longer each time, until number five was two before I started.
The older the child, the better the chance of them copping on quickly, but you will know yourself - only you know what your child is ready for.
You could try at 18 - 20 months; if they get upset, or it obviously seems a waste of time, forget it for a month or two and try again.
They get the hang of it eventually. How many adults do we know who wet their pants?

when you get sick of changing nappies. The way I did it was to let my daughter run around without her nappy and every time she sat down tried to get the potty under her, if she did anything I praised her if nothing just waited til she got up. She started asking for the potty after a while when she needed it

i started all 4 of mine from the age of about 13/14 months old, if you show them the potty and sit them on it eventually it will sink in what it is for. if there ready then they'll use it if not like my youngest they'll just walk round with i on there head. take there nappy off and let them run round without one on if they have an accident just say it dosn't matter sit them on the potty and tell them that they do what ever on there it will work. it may take 1 week it may take 1 month but you will get there.
