Sadly today people have such little time to ponder philosophy. Everyone seems to be either trying to survive on meager amounts of money, or chasing after more money to buy even more useless, "toys" and possessions than they already have. If people took time to consider the larger philosophical questions, they might come to realize what's truly valuable and what's not.

its not this question i wish to address so much as one of the answers... iam tired of americans being attacked .. yes we spend money and we enjoy life but we have have one time or another offered up our fathers... uncles.. brothers sisters aunts and mothers neices and nephews to aid and die for other countries... we dont have to but us silly americans have compasion and empathy for others no matter how rude .. hateful .. and inconsiderate these others are... so yes for the most part we all know what is valuable and most desirable but we struggle along with what we can obtain and the goals we can reach and accept maybe to soon that that is it for us and our lives.. we also try and be happy with what we have ... and share... so to this original question i think of the larger picture and settle for what life deals me each day and try and make it a better day and my life a better life that when its over at least a handful of people will of thought it was good that i was here and passed thru this world... its not the things we have or the things we leave its the impression we make and the thoughts we leave behind.... was our life well lived... and well shared... for me that is the larger picture

You need only look at the questions ( besides this one ) on YA to know the answer. Today there was a question ( again ) from a lady about what to get her dog for it's 3rd birthday. Another from a guy, "who do you like, Anna Kournikova or Sharapova?" Lots of idiotic questions - "my earlob hurts, why?" or " I have to lose 35 pounds in two days, will a grapefruit diet help?". Unfortunately most of these questions seem to come from Americans.

What happens at death? it leads directly to lots of alternative questions... Is death the tip of each thing or is there a soul in guy that keeps to exist previous death? if so, is that soul immortal or does it too at last give up to exist? If the soul does survive after death, what's the character of that life? If there is an life after death, is “solid” rewarded and “undesirable” punished? if so, how do you reconcile this with the thought of predestination? And if there's a God of "countless love" and "forgivennes", a thank you to you reconcile punishment?

I enjoy both. But only with trivia can you win game shows and get paid.
