What is the difference between a Flat, a Maisonette and a House in UK?

Flats and maisonettes are both accommodation on one level. The difference between them is that maisonettes each have their own front door leading out onto the street outside whereas flats all share the same main entrance/exit. I house is accommodation with its own front door and two or three floors. (I live in a first floor maisonette.)
