I'm planning on gettin my ear cartilage piereced in a few days.. i jus need to kno if it really hurts as much as ppl say & do most ppl at the malls use a needle or a gun for that... Also after i let the piercing heal, I want to put an industrial barbell in but there are different gauges & I don't know if I need a 20' or 18' or whatever size. I hope ya'll can help me decide if I should go through with this & if so get a nice lookin barbell:D
Thank You All!!!

Mine was sore for 2 weeks. Not pounding sore, but sore to the touch and I was unable to sleep on that side.

If you want an industrial piercing the most used size is 14 gauge and sometimes 16 which is a little smaller. Go to a piercing parlor not the mall for your piercing. You must get it pierced the same gauge as ur jewelry and piercing parlors use hollow needles instead of guns like the mall which is so much better for you since guns are not sanitary and can cause infection and scar tissue to form.
Yes it does hurt but the pain is over in 2 seconds. The second hole will hurt quite a bit more since the blood has rushed to your ear. But if you really want it the pain doesnt matter. Then you are left with a hot throbbing feeling which is in no way unbearable for the next day. After that you shouldnt be able to feel it is there unless it gets bumped and then it will hurt quiet a bit. After 2 weeks the majority of the pain is gone. At least thats how it was for me. Just make sure to wash it with the provon/antibacterial soap they sell 2 times a day and do sea salt soaks too so you dont get an infection.
Oh also when deciding on what side to get pierced-pick the side you dont sleep on and dont talk on the phone with (bacteria covered)!

If you have any questions feel free to email me!! Good luck!

usually at malls they use piercing guns and 20 gauge jewelry for cartilage piercings. but if you get it done at a piercing studio they will use a needle and an 18 gauge. i would recommend and 18 gauge. either way getting it pierced doesn't hurt at all and it lasts forever.
