Is it possible for a guy to be so good that women are turned off and feel that they have to hurt him out of spite?

I guess it depends on what you mean by too good. If you mean by taking care of all of, and every one of her needs. then the answer is yes, because women actually have a lot of wants. but very few needs, so if she sees you as some one going over board for her perhaps she might feel that you are expecting a big repayment. in other words they are questioning your motives. You may be sincere, but too good means questions

I've heard people who don't do well with the opposite sex say it's because they're too nice or too good a lot of times. As if the problem is that everyone they ask out is really only looking for someone who will whip them and force them to write bad checks and therefore is incapable of appreciating their fine qualities.

Uh, no, if a guy (or girl) is striking out it's usually because of a reason that might be harder for them to hear than that, like either they ask out the wrong kind of people (nerd asks out prom queens kind of thing), or not enough people (if he only asks out 3 people a year, his odds wouldn't be good but the same guy who asks out a hundred will get a girl), or have some quality or mannerism that turns a lot of potential mates off (stupid, boring, fat, unclean, self-absorbed, acts like a pussy (which is not, by the way, a synonym for nice or good), ugly, poor, a high-pitched girlish laugh, butt-breath, camel toe, eats dandruff, brings mother on the date, blubbers, begs, brags, bosses, never shuts up, only talks about himself or exactly how his computer works, cleans his ears out with his car keys, etc.

If I had a problem getting someone, I would ask carefully selected people (brutally honest ones) to tell me honestly what they think the problem is.

About hurting him out of spite, no I don't think women would want to hurt someone out of spite because his goodness turned them off. I don't think that really makes any sense.

Yes...Guys that are "too good" are usually perceived as weak and spineless by most women especially young ones. Sorry, that is the nature of the beast. Of course when guys are strong and have a backbone they are called as_holes by women, so you can't win...
