A state of mind can be changed with some new perspective. Think about all of the excuses a person makes starting with "I can't".
Imagine how things would change if they replaced "I can't" with "I am not willing to"?
It would mean that they would have to take responsibility for their lack of effort.....
And what about someone complaining about all of the obstacles that hold them back from accomplishing something......
What if they were told that there are at least three opportunities behind each perceived obstacles? (to improve something, to learn something, and to overcome something).
It's all in how you look at things. If someone is willing to listen to and accept alternative perceptions, it might give them insight, and possibley even change their state of mind.....
Stste of mind is mostly a choice, and can be changed when given some new perspective......

I don't think you can change a state of mind but only grow beyond it. That's not quite even the same as replacing one with another. It's more like a seed sprouting roots and those roots growing stem, flowers and fruits. There are 2 basic ways to accomplish this. One, probably the more common, is gradual and dependent on new actions and behaviors and the new responses that come with those. The second is by brute force. This method I think is likely to be less successful in the hands of most of us but there are a few who seem able to achieve this. When it works it is quick and almost unbelievable. When it doesn't, the person attempting it falls flat on his/her face.

State of mind is a thought /idea you have fixed in your head . To change or replace it you have to make an conscious effort by thinking some other thing positive and say it /affirmation is the right word a couple of times and your state or mind is changed / replaced
for example ."YES I CAN DO IT" OR I CAN CONTROL MY THOUGHTS. repeat this type of positive sentences a couple of times and you are on top of the world with the right thought in your mind.
Wishing you all the best in your trials for the change or mind or thoughts.

Only you can change your state of mind, and it is done, by changing your thoughts, one at a time. Examine the thought you are having, and decide what you want to change it to. Keep working at it, soon you will become good at it.

You gotta make new "grooves" in the brain. We all form a pattern, "grooves" in our brain. How we think, react, what we are drawn too, or what we repel from. When something happens, we automatically fall in to a familiar "groove" for that incident and act upon it accordingly.
Change your groove babe. "Do" something different next time. Soon you will establish a new "groove" and think differently, act differently the next time.
(Mental illness is something that should be monitored by a doctor. A simple answer..like above, does "not" fall in to the category for one with severe depression or any other mental illness.)
