No. I may tell you that I'm Chuck Norris. But I'm certainly no stalker.

However, it may be a tactic that a stalker might use in trying to entice someone to meet him.

It depends on what you are doing when you assume that other identity. If you say you are someone else for the sake of learning information about another person, finding out what they are doing, where they live, WHO THEY ARE DATING, or any other private information that they would NOT tell you otherwise, then YES it is stalking.

A lot of people have fun screen names for anonymity on the computer simply because it is safe, but they are not stalkers. But then they are not out trying to find out all they can about a certain individual, either. It just comes down to what you are doing at the time...

A stalker is someone who "follows" a target person around. So, if you posted a question in Words & Wordplay, and ABC said, "Oh, that's really dumb." Then you posted something in Hobbies & Crafts, and ABC came up *there* and said, "Man, this is dumb, too." and did the same thing when you posted in Food & Drink, then that would be stalking. It doesn't matter if ABC is his/her real name or not.

Most people use a fake name on the computer. I don't think that's a big deal. However, if you use someone else's fake name, that's just rude. That's identity theft.

depends who you say you are, and what is your motive. I could say i am brad pitt's identical twin. Dont really see how you would need to say you are someone else.
