Does man make his own destiny?
Yes!!! By his actions &Thoughts. All these are saved in the memory as three guna’s (Basic nature: - Satwa, Rajas, & tamas) these are also transferred to the soul when it leaves the present body.
Our thoughts are formed in the mind by the bioelectric currents produced in the body, these currents are modified by the food we eat, the environment we live and the basic nature (Satwa, Rajas, & tamas) we have carried forward to this present life.
Thus If we do any thing it is automatically recorded .If we are to experience the fruits in this present life then, they get erased as soon as we experience them, or due to the blessings of enlightened souls, or the grace of almighty being pleased by our sincere prayer.

Only if he/she can pay his/her way. Actually, destiny, is derived at according to ones own abilities. Everyone has a dream, but how often does a High School drop out become a rocket scientist. On the contrast, why would a Med-School graduate park cars?
So to make your own destiny is possible but not always probable if you don't recognize your own limitations.

Man doesn't always make his own destiny, but he can make (or unmake) his own destiny if he wants. It is his indomitable desire to reach a goal and how hard he works to attain it that helps him make his own destiny. There are external factors which he has to take into consideration and hurdles which he has to surmount. But often it is precisely these hurdles come as a true test of his character. We have innumerable instances where a man from very humble origins has taken himself to the pinnacle of glory. So we have the very appropriate saying "From log cabin to White House". Lots of people have risen from the ashes to find succes anew. And there are an equal number of instances where men in exceedingly favourable situations squandered all opportunities and advantages to end up losers in life.

I believe that the idea of destiny depends on your circumstances. Not too long ago, the vast majority of human beings born were stuck in their social classes, roles, jobs, economic level etc. It's a very new thing the whole freedom, pursuit of happiness, in that for a great many people in the western world have choices, and the ability to change or alter their social standing, or express themselves without being killed. I think for those people, fate or destiny, basically meaning the circumstances that effect or limit your choices, is less than for a person say born in India to a prostitute. I recognize the desire withing humans for their lives to mean something more, but that doesn't mean it does. Wishing something doesn't make it true. Perhaps we got too smart for our imperfection and meaningless. We're trying to organize sand.

yes man makes his own destiny.have u ever heard of karma?according to the theory of karma, whatever u did in the last birth, comes back to you in the next birth. also, whatever u do, is for a reason and cause. so, if a man does "punya" or say good for the sake of others, he gets similar in return.
man's life is balanced between good things that happen to him and bad things. but when, what good or bad thing happens depends upon the doing of the man or "karma".obviously, there are extremities in even the good n bad.
so man does decide his destiny by choosing an appropriate path.

There are over a zillion different paths we can take in life... so I wouldn't think we make destinies, nor believe that we are born with them.

The law of Karma, the actions you perform in thought, word & deed determine your life circumstances & your destiny, Karma rules as long as you have a sense of "Free will", & self separate from God. once you Surrender these concepts and follow the one will of God,then you live Dharma, doing Gods will,Doing your duty, living by the law of rightiousness. The rightious man sees God in all things.
