I'm my opinion, it means that even though we humans don't feel the immediateness of our death..that is we tend perceive ourselves as immortal in a way.. for if we feared death every second we wouldn't feel like learning or building things.. or saving money for example.. and that indeed we have a long way to go, but we must also keep in mind that things take time to develop, or grow, and that we mustn't try to feel greedy in our doings in this world, and just enjoy living.

Because we are so young, we have a lot of growing to do before we become closer the being god-like. Then, maybe we will have more god-like powers.
