New fancy Vaio huh...hmm. Thanks for the tip. Anyway, go back to device manager, and uninstall its current device driver then reinstall it through Sony's website. Other than that, check the warranty on it; maybe she could replace it.

AUDIO PROBLEM CAN OCCUR DUE TO MANY REASIONS.IF UR LATOP IS AFFETECD BY VIRUS ,IT CAN SHOW THE SAME PROBLEM.BUT I CANNOT BE DETEDED BY SCANING VIRUS.
SO THE BETTER WAY I SAY IS THAT FORMAT THE WINDOWS AND REINSTALL THE WINDOWS.ANDDD XP WILL TAKE THE COMPONENTS DEFAULT.BUT IF U INSTALL ,TAKE UR MOTHERBOARD CD AND INSTALL THE DRIVER 1 BY 1.DONT EXCEPT XP TO TAKE IT AUTOMATICALLY.
MAIN THING U HAVE TO CHECK IS THAT WHILE DOWNLOAD A DRIVER U NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT UR DRIVER SUITS 4 UR MOTHER BOARD.ELSE IT MAKES COLLABORATION.

Please visit http://www.driverguide.com and download the appropriate SiS drivers. They are rated, so grab one of the highest rated ones, for that particular card. Hope this helps
