Unfortunately, there is no way for a Nintendo DS to link with the Game Boy Advance. There are no connection slots on the DS that GBAcables or the wireless adaptor will fit in. You can't even connect a wireless adapter to the GBA and connect wirelessly like that. It's a huge flaw with the DS that it can't connect to the GBA. If you have a spare DS or a Gamecube with the Game Boy Player attachment, you'll be fine. Otherwise your sister will need to buy a GBA in order to trade with you,

Nintendo DS Lite features a separate media port for Game Boy Advance cartridges, allowing you to play all your favorite Game Boy Advance games in single-player mode.

It depends on the type of game your are playing on both nintendo DS and the Game Boy SP. The games have to be both on the platform of Game Boy Advanced.

Must work. Connectors are same so GBA link cabble should work. You would have to be using the GBA advance games on both consoles. I'll give it a go later on the kids games.
