I may be the only person on earth but I don't think someone heckling you is a reason to lose what's left of your mind and go on a rampage of hate like Michael Richards did. I could understand if he had said a few barbs back, but I don't think race and the hate that he expressed should have been brought into the situation.

Hold up!!! everyone is getting crazy here!! First of all that man, if he should be called that, is was way out of line point blank. I am from new york city, brooklyn to be exact. I have had the opportunity to see many comedy shows featuring every race possible. Hecklers in everyone. Hecklers pay for the tickets just like everyone else and sometimes get paid for helping comedians out. I know this because I did it many times. Hecklers keep a comedian on there toes. If he could not stand the heat he should have stayed out of the kitchen point blank! have had the chance to see Michael Richards more than once. what happened took place because he's a racist and and he is facing a crisis in his life that he can not face so he took it out on someone else. That is the bottom line. I can say to another black person " Hey N*gga - what's up" or "You know your my N*gga" meaning your my good friend we have each other backs. I can hear N*gga all day in hip hop / rap music but if I walk up to another black person and say " 50 yrs ago you would be hanging from a tree N*gger" you can bet that person would not be to happy wtih me. "They are N*ggers!! he shouted over and over. With anger and hate. If that had been a white heckler he would have used that to better his act and probably left the stage feeling not so good about it . But the hecklers were black and that made him angry and violent. What Michael Richards displayed is a man that's a racist . 50 yrs ago if a white man hung a black man from a tree because he felt disrespected by him, that white man would be considered a racist and part of the klu klux klan. 50 yrs ago someone that felt like Michael Richards would be someone to fear. 50 years ago Michael Richards was only 7 yrs old. So now we see how he was raised to think. He can apolgize. but what good would it do. He is a Racist and he should own up to what he belives and face the music. I for one will never go to see his act again. I agree with angry insightful black

While you are quite correct in that the people that caused the incident have been deemed nothing more then a victim and have yet to admit that their actions incited Mr Richards it should also be noted that Mr Richards is the celebrity and it is his name that is known and will be judged. I agree Mr Richards had every right to be angry however it is how you deal with the situation and it's repercussions that are important. If he would have ignored or discreetly requested a security personnel or other employee to deal with the offenders then he would have not been subjected to the criticism. The moment he chose to use those terms he has offended an entire group of people as well as others including myself who deplore racism. One doesn't have to be a member of a specific group to know the use of specific terms is inappropriate. Now everyone knows who made those remarks and even if the offending persons names were printed in every newspaper I would be hard pressed to find many who would remember those names in 6 months but am reasonably sure Mr Richards name will be remembered well beyond that. There was no reason for the way he dealt with it. It damaged his carrier and creditability for a long time to come.

I've never used the "n" word and never intend to.
But is it right to limit the speech of white people when others get to use those words all the time?
I don't think ANY speech should be limited.
If one group can tell another group they can't say certain words, then someone can turn around and tell the first group they're not allowed to say certain things.
ALL speech should be allowed.
We all get our feelings hurt in life. But we don't have a RIGHT to NOT get our feelings hurt.
I don't like the fact that the hecklers who started it all have hired a lawyer and are asking for money from Richards. It all comes to down to greed. They're not "victims" anymore.

I'm glad that you brought up this point because my husband and I were discussing this very same thing. Why is okay for black people to call one another the N word? (All you need to do is listen to the rap music - you hear it all of the time). It is a double standard.

Finally, I wish there was a video of the entire night, because obviously there is more to this story than what has been aired. If they are going to show part of what happened, show it all.

I don't agree with blowing up like that, but people don't just do that for no reason. Yes, Michael Richards went way over board, but let's hear what really happened prior to his getting so angry.

It is starting to come out that Kramer was heckled for over ten minutes. One of the things that was said to him was, "you aint funny **** a" then when kramer replied with a witty retort the heckler replied with "You don't know me **** a, Don't fuc k with this **** a".

It also is being reported that the black guys who were calling kramer **** a and threatening him were also threatening the people who opened up the show for Richards..

Real innocent victims...? Seems like two punks who should've been bounced out before Richards ever hit the stage..

What did the hecklers say? Would another's actions give license to being abusive? Seems like this might just make the matter more volatile.

i totally agree, these hecklers get away with being rude and dont accept any responsibility for their actions,if colored people want to use the "n" word on themselves then they should accept it when other people call them that too

It's all so pathetic. Who gives a rats @$$ if he called a n*ggar a n*ggar!?! I get called a fat ***** now and again too, you don't see me boo-hoo-ing over it. All people are entitled to say whatever they wish rather it's right or wrong. And believe it or not, there are worse things that a person could be besides a "racist" like a mass murderer or a child molester. People need to get over it!!!
