1. Play with young children. They remind us of our duty to present the world to them someday, a world that is better than the one presented to us. Visit a nursery school and lie down on the floor in a room of three year olds who are not wearing shoes and let them climb all over you and giggle and you hold them and hug them and blow very loud bubbles on their bellies. You will give those children a memory of happiness that will strengthen them and help THEM someday when they need to remember why we are here in this life.
2. Plant a seed in your house. Tend it closely. Just one seed. Water it. Feed it. Give it sunlight. Give it EVERYTHING it wants and needs, including your kind words spoken softly to it every day. Watch it grow. And, as it grows, you will heal.
3. Blink your eyes with awareness every minute and when you open them, you are NEW and FRESH . . .and you are alive only for that one minute, until you blink again. And, in each separate minute after you blink and "reboot", be your personal best human being, the most balanced and harmonious and happy to be alive person you can be. Just one minute at a time.
4. Walk in nature alongside running water. In solitude. When you walk and are alone in nature, there are no distractions to prevent you from facing the pain and suffering. By spending time everyday in pure solitude, you will heal faster and in a truer, or, deeper way. You need time to heal before you are ready to go forth with healthy motivation.
5. Seek beauty. Be around what your eye senses to be beautiful. That will balance you. In balance, you will find your motivation again.
6. Write in a journal every night. One page only. Write VERY slowly. Think about every single word most carefully before you write it down. Make each journal entry a work of art, in your meaning, the beauty of your words, even your handwriting. But, write ONLY about what was good and beautiful and meaningful and healthy that day. ONLY that. Your own words will eventually conspire to inspire you!
7. Gaze at the stars at night and dare to find a new dream. It will take time. That's ok. But, do your part and be there beneath the stars with an open mind and a ready heart for when the time comes that the Universe has something to tell you.
Just for something beautiful for now, here is a real picture that we humans have recently taken of the beginning of the Universe. Enjoy:

Attitude in gratitude, Breathing is taken for granted, just as a beautiful sunset is hardly noticed when the heart and mind is occupied by negativity/pain. Stay in the second, then in the minute. Find things that are freely given, smiles, sunsets, and sunrise.
A friend told me some years back, "Life is just a little, why live any of it in misery?" We have a choice to feel, and can change the channels in our hearts and minds to focus on positive things.

Put distance (even just mental and emotional) between yourself and the thing(s) that precipitated the depression. Then engage in new behaviors. You cannot attack the emotions directly with any great degree of success without engaging in changes in action and thinking as well.

That is part of depression...lack of motivation.
