I tried using metal polish but rust still returns after 2 weeks. I'm still doubting if I would use a 925 silver cleaner. I want the coating protection to be permanent.

I was under the impression that most sword collectors use an oil to protect their swords.

If you want to keep your blade sharp and available for regular use, then there isn't any permanent coating. The answer is to put just a little light lubricating oil on a cloth and rub the blade with it. Do this regularly (at least monthly) and you should keep corrosion from recurring.

If the blade is just for display then try a clear nail polish.

You can use floor or car wax to coat a sword blade. It is removeable and does not harm the blade.

my husband used to clean and coat all of his blades (for different equipment) with a coating of oil after they were dried. He used to get it at a sporting goods shop.

Just spray them with a coat of automotive primer. When re-installed you can then paint over them with the desired (matching) color.
