Can you move your router closer. Raise the physical height of the router. Buy a Netgear Rangemaster or a Belkin router which offer faster and better signal transmissions.

Wireless connections speeds are all relative and a consistent 24mbps should be more than adequate. After all 8mb internet connections are widely available but few are enjoying those speeds. If your a gamer or heavy bandwidth user then you are never going to be satisfied with a wireless connection. Wired is best and as far as I can see, it always will be.

Wireless has always been a bit of a problem for most. Maybe you should consider another way. See Link!

Go to run in the start and type in mmc (microsoft management console) click File>add/remove snap-in, click add, then Group Policy and close. Local computer policy will come up, expand computer configuration, open up administrative templates>network>Qos Packet Schedular. Double click Time reservable bandwidth enable it, it will say 20% change it to 0
click apply.
This bandwidth is reserved for your system, but if you are only a single user it's just sitting there doing nothing.

You could try using a web accelerator.
