For years i have not had the motivation to do anything to change my life. This might be understandable if i had a great life but i dont. I seem to think the good things are beyond me, so i dont try to get them. How can i change this outlook? Seriously.

First, you will not be successful in life until you choose a profession that you love to do.

I understand how you feel. I felt the same way once. Do you have kids? How old are you? There are many reasons, depending on what stage of life you are in.

What do you love to do? Start with that.

Do you feel like you have missed an opportunity to learn new things, and that it is too late to start trying? (It isn't true, by the way)

Also, you should probably go see a doc and find out if you are clinically depressed, or if you have another physical problem that is causing your lack of motivation.

Try to find an interest or hobby that is different to most around. Something that you are personally active in and will be rewarded by your efforts, etc. Some people climb mountains, simply so they can reach the top and say they have done it. This can be achieve by less strenuous hobbies as well. These days many are involved with video games to reach certain goals. The motivation will be to actively take on the interest and reach your goal. No matter how long you live, there will always be new goals to reach and that is what can make life so interesting.

How do you see yourself when you get old? Do you want to live miserably? If not better get up! Its never too late.
All of us had undergone changes in our life. We have undergone & undergoing challenges in life! It is a lifetime test we are undergoing. The purpose of which is to make each one of us stronger. There is no perfect life.
There is a poem called Dont quit! It goes like this, when things go wrong as they sometimes will, when the funds are low & the debts are high, stop if you must but dont you quit. Life is queer with each twists & turns, rest if you must but dont ever quit.
Whatever we will be in the next years will be how we lived our life today! Have faith. Lift your life to the Lord. However, you must do something! Life isnt always a bed of roses.
We should be contended with what we are. You dont know we are even lucky. Some even doesnt have the comfort of using the computer. I know of rich people who arent contended in their life. There are people who are average & are contented in their lifes. Learn to get contentment. Life is not always material.
Always pray & ask guidance. Our family & friends may not be with us always, it is only the Lord who is there to guide & watch over us. Strengthen your faith.
Try seeing the other side of the coin. You might be dwelling only the bad aspects of life you had gone through.
Goodluck! It is never late.

Please don't think that good things are beyond you. They are not. You are just as worthy to have good things in life as anyone else.

Do you have goals that you really want to achieve? If you don't, start think of some. Then work towards these goals. If there is something you really desire at the end of a race, you would be motivated.

As to how you can change your outlook? Become a Christian if you aren't already one :)

You need to figure out what you want. Write it down. Create a plan on how you think it should be done, day by day. Tell either one other person or everyone you know what your plan is and what your to-do list entails for the day and then do those things! If you fail to do those things, tell everyone why you failed on this one day. The embarrassment might get you moving again.
If that doesn't work, hire someone to kick your *** if you don't do what you're supposed to. Eventually, the pain of getting your *** kicked again will motivate you to not do what you aren't supposed to be doing. Now get off the computer and do what you're supposed to do before I kick your *** for the fun of it (and for the betterment of your life).

Been there. I don't knwo you well enough, but I know the psych field by now. Too many errors, and one of them is thinking everything is mental.
Get your body checked out for hormonal and other diseases that influence this before you attempt to do this all emotionally.
If you're totally clear, THEN you could start with a pro. Most likely, you need to figure out what does motivate you first, even if it's popcorn and sunlight!
Good luck!

Find something you are interested in doing. Then drink a pot of coffee and start doing it. If you are not motivation to change your life then maybe your life is okay and you do enjoy it. I think the best place to start is by appreciating your own life.
