help..!

i downloaded some stuff last night and after installing one, a caution sign showed up at the bottom right part of my monitor saying "Critical System Errors!".. at first i thought i jez had a lot of programs opened so i closed all of em and i rebooted my pc.. but then it's still there..! then it said that the pc is infected by some virus..

what should i do..?
i have a friend saying that she has the same virus on her pc right now and she can't remove it.. is there anything we could do about this or are we gonna have to have the computer formatted..? (which we're avoiding as much as possible coz we both dont want to lose the stuff that's already in our computers..)

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

I suggest that you try to carryout system restore to a day previous to the day when there was no virus or any problems. It may be a few weeks or months back. You have to decide the date. The problem is likely to be solved. Then,You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at

the superb thank you to handle a deadly disease is the two a device restoration or deploy homestead windows back. No antivirus will thoroughly do away with a deadly disease as quickly as its on your workstation - fairly for the reason that those one which you have sound like undesirable boys device restoration- once you turn on your workstation there will be a reveal asserting something like: F1=Setup F2=Boot Menu F10= device restoration Press and carry the device restoration button (it particularly is distinctive on your workstation) and carry on with the hassle-free steps. this would a hundred% do away with the viruses yet in addition any saved archives, photos, movies, records etc. So decrease back up the substantial ones or any you decide directly to maintain (use a USB key or an exterior no longer common rigidity) Re- setting up homestead windows: This purely works if u have a homestead windows setting up disk turn on the workstation, insert the disk, then close off the workstation turn it on back there will be a reveal asserting "press any key as properly from Cd/DVD" press any key you decide directly to it particularly is going to hold you to homestead windows setup and its superb to place in a clean replica of homestead windows no longer a restore carry on with the stairs after do no longer forget to format the no longer common rigidity to do away with each and every document and virus

The "Critical System Errors!" warning is a scam. It is almost always caused by the Smitfraud infection. To remove go here:

and scroll down to:
"S!Ri has written an excellent SmitFraud Removal Tutorial which uses the SmitfraudFix Utility which S!Ri also developed"
for removal tool and infomation.

And here is another removal tool and procedure to remove Smitfraud:

Back up your data NOW! Run your anti-virus software to eliminate the threat. Chances are good that if your PC has idenitified it it can deal with it. If not search on-line for tools that can. If its a really nasty one chances are a free fix will be out there on google.

Good Luck
