Which one do you prefer? I personally prefer PS3.
Nintendo Wii is pretty much a copy of XBOX 360, and if you look at the Special Edition Silver PS3, they look alike as well.
I don't mind Nintendo for Game Boy, and DS but other than that I personally don't like it.

Pros:
- Colossally powerful hardware
- Plays Blu-Ray high-definition movies
- Sure to get lengthy support by top developers
Cons:
- By far the most expensive of the three next-gen contenders...
- Likely to be hardest to find in stores this year
Nintendo Wii
Pros:
- Cheap!
- Controls genuinely unlike anything else we've played
- Bulging launch lineup
- Play classic Nintendo games!
- Bundled with full game, Wii Sports
Cons:
- Limited in graphical realism and sound quality
- Not skewed for more mature gamer crowd
- Unproven controller may not have longevity

PS3,.. things will be best on there and get better and better over time. Playstation also has a better age range and type range for games, whereas Nintendo tends to be for small childern, a couple Simulators, and some things for fathers.
As for the new controller, very amuseing... The Ball & Stick jokes can already start up,.. The problem is that if people wanted to play with a Ball & Stick they'd be playing with a Ball & Stick for about a dollar.. and hopefully outside. Indoor Ball & Stick games don't turn out well. In a few months parents and girlfriend/boyfriends/spouce will be complaining this was a nightmare they had to break or hide.
On top of things the Wii doesn't turn off (which means it may break faster and is less convinent) and everyone I hear from that gets one is bored/disaapointed within 3 days. I don't know why they are down, it's like they built up expectations and stuff,.. then all their energy is lost, they get deflated,.. drained,.. depressed,.. and next thing that comes out of them is some comment about getting the PS3, their hope and plans anyways. It's kinda like " Aw well,.. this wasn't as great,.. mabe next game system will be better,.. oh look the next one is already here.. it's called PS3,.. YEAH!"
I already thought the PS3 would be more up my Alley anyways. I can't afford either, so I don't have plans to get either. If I get one it will be Playststion 3,.. no doubt. But I am worried about Sony. They had some problems. Some batteries and things they made turned out faulty so they were in trouble and had to recall and replace,.. I don't know what else but they went from like 300 Mill to 1 Mill on the exchange in a single day.
Added: Mr. Motion Sensors are not New. Wii is not the first. Wii was released and production of them started AFTER the PS3 (which is why the comments I hear from people are some times weird and I summed that in " Aw well,.. this wasn't as great,.. mabe next game system will be better,.. oh look the next one is already here.. it's called PS3,.. YEAH!"). PS2 already has such,.. further back there were such in the original Nintendo Entertainment System controllers (some of them). Ever play Duck Hunt?

Just ask your brother if you don't want it to be a surprise.Otherwise choose Wii but I think PS3 is better.Since both a "backward" compatible.So I think you should get him a Wii since it can play Gamecube games which are cheaper.PS3 too can play PS2 and PS1 games but Gamecube games are a bit cheaper than PS2 games--not PS1! So just go with Wii although I like PS3 bette and would have chosen it if I were you!

If you can afford it the PS3 is good but it's no different from the PS2 except the graphics. The Wii has the motion sensor controller whihch I love and cool games at launch. I'd personally go for the Wii but if you like the PS3 go ahead and spend that $600.

You are ignorant. Its the Ps3 which copied the Wii by ripping of its motion sensor controller. How the hell did the Wii copy Xbox 360?! PS3 is a $600 piece of crap.

I prefer the PS3...but having a hard time finding one in stock. I signed up at findaps3.com though, hoping their email/sms notification will help me get one before christmas.
