Not only is it a viable theory, there is significant evidence that supports the theory. When the 9-11 attacks took place, I was the only one in my office who refused to stay glued to the TV all day, because I believed then it was a government ploy. A plane hitting a skyscraper would not have caused the building to collapse in the matter in which it did; there had to be explosions planted inside the structure.
Immediately following the 'terrorist attacks', prominent Saudi citizens in town for an investors' meeting of the Carlyle Group (a company in which George H.W. Bush, James Baker, and other former Bush cabinet members are involved) were flown out of the country on U.S. government jets.
One family who invested $2.5 million in the Carlyle Group (which quickly became one of the U.S. government's largest contractors) was named binLaden.
The Bush family had a personal vendetta against Saddam Hussein ever since the days of Desert Storm, when George H.W. Bush was criticized and humiliated for not ousting Hussein at that time.
Ever since World War ii, the giant U.S. military-industrial complex realized how profitable 'war' could be. They bought up all the politicians, hired pricey lobbyists, and formed special interest groups to encourage and promote 'war'. Thus, America was involved in the Korean Conflict, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Cold War, Vietnam, and Desert Storm. It was time to boost the sagging profits of the military-industrial complex with a new 'war', but an excuse was necessary.
The nameless, faceless sub-humans who control this country behind the scenes, ordered Bush to illegally and unconstitutionally invade Iraq on the weak premise that Saddam might have 'weapons of mass destruction'. Bush lied to Congress about it (and yet was never impeached, as Bill Clinton was when he lied to Congress about an extra-marital indiscretion with another consenting adult).
Dick Cheney wanted all that OIL swimming underneath Iraq's sands so that he and his Exxon-Mobil buddies could get richer and richer and richer as they continued to feed the American dependency on cheap, easily-accessible OIL.
As years go by, more Americans will come to doubt the veracity of the government's role in 9-11, and with good reason.
The government has a long track record of lying to its citizens.
They lied about u-2 spy planes being flown over the U.S.S.R. They lied about the effects of Agent Orange on Vietnam vets.
They lied about secret CIA prisons.
They lied about ignoring the rules of the Geneva Convention, and torturing 'detainees'.
They lied about a break-in at Democratic headquarters.
They probably lied about the Kennedy assassination (but we won't know until official documents are released in 2038).
They lied about events in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947.
The lied about the existence of an government facility in Nevada known as Area 51, even to the extent of denying its existence even though it's identified as such on government maps!
Benjamin Franklin once said: "When the government fears the people, it is liberty. When people fear the government, it is tyranny." Best not to believe you government. It's been proven time and time again to be lying to you. -RKO-

I have read these theories before, and while they have made me think, it is so incredibly far fetched. I do not feel that the US government had anything to do with 9/11 attacks. I say this because Osama Bin Laden had already started to show his hatred towards our country years before George Bush was even considering running for the Presidency. The president had only been in office a little over a hundred days before this happened and they were taking advantage of a newly elected president. The theories do raise concerns that I have. The Iraq war has become a fiasco, but not even George W. Bush has the power or knowledge to commit such acts as being a master mind behind the attacks that happened that day.

No it isn't a surprise. Studies also show that those who identify as republicans are the least educated. I do have a problem with this study, though. Some of these statements, such as "72 percent believe the economy is getting worse (It has gotten better since fall 2009)" and "91 percent believe the stimulus legislation lost jobs (In reality, it created about 3 million jobs, according to CBO)" are a matter of opinion, not fact. These could be argued either way. Also, the statement "72 percent believe the health reform law will increase the deficit. (It reduces it)" is flawed. It is too early to tell how the reform will effect our economy. Most of the bill hasn't even gone into effect yet. Unfortunately, we will probably never know because conservatives will probably kill funding to the bill. But the fact is, both FOXs and MSNBCs programming predominately features talk show hosts who argue for their opinion instead of simply telling facts. If you want real news, chances are you have to do research and look for it yourself.

I don't believe that theory. I know many more like me. I have read several items on the big conspiracy, but it just doesn't add up.
It would take thousands of people to pull it off, knowing how things go, not all of them will shh keep their mouths closed. Someone would want to make big bucks off of selling their story to the news media.
All the family members who received phone calls from their loved ones aboard the planes, knew who they were talking to, try telling the family members it was a recording. The conspirators say that all the phone calls were fakes. Now how could someone record those people's voices and have them answer questions from loved ones?
What would be the point of bringing down the Towers, Pentagon, and the unknown building that the Penn. flight would of hit, if the plane hadn't gone down. Is that the same reasoning the Cole was bombed, the Embassies in Africa? They all are tied together.

60% of Americans believe that aliens have visited Earth, 70% believe some great goblin in the sky rules the universe and over 70% believed Iraq was behind 9-11. Just because people believe something doesn't make it true.

The fact that 3 out of every 10 people doubt their own government is a reflection of six years of the Bush administration. GW's smoke and mirrors act is wearing thin and causing nothing but confusion. Ask any Republican who just lost the election what they think of Bush now.
