Hi,

Same thing happened to me only mine was torn up for 10 years.

Here's what I did:
1. I picked out the flooring I wanted
2. I called and arranged for the flooring company to lay the floor.
3. The night before the floor was to be laid, I asked my husband to move the stove as it was gas and I wasn't sure how to move it.
When he asked why, I told him I was having the floor put in the next day.

4. This spurred him to work on the subfloor and he called and told the floor company not to come. I waited 4 more months before the subfloor was completed.

5. Once the subfloor was completed, I called the floor company to come in and lay the tile.

Of course, I'm divorced now so not sure if you really want to try this or not. :) However, I do have a floor now.

Do your own research and see what's involved. If it's pretty straight forwarded, you can just make the decision to do it yourself. You would be surprised what you can do when you set your mind to it. Wish I had time to go into all the projects I have involved myself into after my husband started them. Sometimes it's just overwhelming to them. Once I show that I mean business he always steps in and helps and sometimes takes over the job, either way it gets done and may I say always with great satisfaction from both of us. Don't get me wrong there are some really tough times along the way but the finished product is worth it.

Have a calm talk with him, convey your expectations; "I'd like to see the floor finished in two weeks" or whatever your timeframe is. If it works, good. If it doesn't work go to Home Depot, Lowes, or any building store and hire someone to finish the job. You get your floor, he doesn't have to do the work (it has been TWO years?!), and you won't get divorced over it. maybe?

good luck

Go on strike! Stop all cooking!! Take yourself and children out for meals until the job is completed.

My mother had the same problem. Get a home equity line of credit and start hiring professionals. I guarantee you he will move so quickly you won't know what happened!!

When my ex husband wouldn't do or finish chores, I would ask one of the neighbor men to do it. When they came over to do it, he would practically jump out of his skin to get up and do it.

That always worked for me...but as you can see...he is now my EX husband.

might be more to it than what meets the eye...might be keeping him from tackling it cuz he wants to do more than just the floor when he does it......so it's such a huge job and he wants it done right when he does it......

get him to talk about it and listen to him......prompt him with honest questions to get him thinking at least, then he might just dive into it, who knows
