Because the animals and the tree are not in an airtight system, and even if they were, there's a lot of air in and around a tree that has a lot of oxygen because of the tree producing it during the day.

When any tree is exposed to sunlight it performs the Photosynthesis reaction. So when you expose any tree to a light having a same wavelength as that of sunlight , in the night it will give oxygen as a byproduct also . In reality, there is no tree which gives oxygen during night also , unless of course when exposed to sunlight. Hope i have answered your question.

For one thing, birds need a lot less oxygen than humans do. Also, the metabolic activity of nearly all dicots (trees) pretty well stops at night, since there is no sunlight for the hydrolysis portion of photosynthesis.

That is vice versa. People and animals exhale (breathe out) carbon dioxide and plants take them in, and the plants bring out (exhale) oxygen for us to breathe. Without plants, one major source of our oxygen will be gone. So it is a symbiotic relationship and cycle,. Plants give out oxygen for us to breathe and we give them carbon dioxide for them to take in. God indeed is wise.
