The importance of reading books is gaining new insight or perspectives on issues that matter to the reader that helps them to have a new understanding of the world around them. Readers can apply the insight in everyday life or as a way of building upon the knowledge that already encompasses their mind and enrich their lives.

The importance of books are also found in how new discoveries pertaining to history are uncovered and/or revealed where the relevance of this the new information needs to be applied or amended in what already exists about a particular issue, topic or event. Thus, "new" books on existing issues are important because sometimes facts "change."

The Importance Of Books

First of all, the importance of books cannot be measured. A book has much significance that only the reader can fathom – and sometimes, that’s not even so. Normally, the importance of books is shown through its uses. Books are the vessels by which all other forms of education are carried. Whether you plan on studying mathematics or philosophy, you will probably obtain a great deal of information from a textbook. This makes them a valuable resource for both formal and informal learning, which allows the appeal to transcend generations of learners wishing to gain insight and knowledge about the world around them. As vessels of education, books also help to keep a person’s intelligence sharp and keen, help to improve vocabulary, and promote a critical eye when viewing the world.

Books are a tangible, valuable record of our world. Sure we have the internet and computers with vast amounts of information stored in them but all of history isn't in a computer. History, the stories of civilations long gone and ancient languages forgotten are somewhere in a book. Books are there so you can learn, imagine and sometimes escape from the world around you. There is nothing like sitting down with a new book, the pages crisp and fresh, and reading about a love story, or a horrible murder. Books are an outlet for many people. For some it is their way of expressing their imagination...writers create so we can read and let our minds take us to a different place, a different time, maybe even a different world. For others, books are an escape. When the world gets to be too crazy and you need to escape you can pick up a book and forget about the world around you.

Books enables us to see life through other peoples eyes.
People are able to communicate their view of the world to a large audience.
Books also enables us to understand other cultures, which in turn enables us to relate better with others.
Books can have a profound effect on society and the world because they enable an individual to change the world.
A single book by a single author can make a huge difference in the whole world.
Think 'Tuesdays with Morrie', 'God has a dream' and you begin to see the role of books in society and why they are important. Books glue people and cultures together.
But unfortunately they can also be used to do just the opposite of the above.

books are so many things. they are knowledge, with knowledge comes wisdom. they are something that can take us away from the cares of this world for a while at least. we can shut out every thing else!! they are an inspiration to us if we read the right ones , they are an encouragement, a fulfilling to those that have no other. books can take you to a world you could never get too except thru a book. i am so thankful i can still read , without my books i would be lost. i can't say enough about reading & i feel so sorry for those people who can't share our world.

In my opinion:

*gaining a firmer grasp of language,
*being able to exercise your imagination,
*the incredible depths that books can go into that really no other form of entertainment/information can go into (when just one person is writing something, they don't have to face budgets like a television show does, or - often enough - advertising revenues like an internet site!),
*the fact that most of our cultural history from before the 20th century comes from books,
*probably some others I can't think of...

The importance of books is for information, entertainment, etc. In my opinion, the importance of reading books is to keenly observe how the author constructs sentences, why the language is so beautiful for the hearing.

Books give people inspiration in life. A good book will provide hope when you are down, and comfort when you are sad. Also, reading books will let you gain so much knowledge. Never underestimate the amount of different things that can be learnt from reading.
