Michael Jordan used to say that Joe Dumars guarded him better then any other player in the league at that time.

But who in your opinion is the best over-all defender in the NBA today?

Bruce Bowen (Spurs)
Ron Artest (Kings)
Ben Wallace (Bulls)
Andrei Kirilenko (Jazz)
Marcus Camby (Nuggets)

Possibly someone else??

He may not be the over-all best defender in the league, but I love the way that Raja Bell seems to get under the skin of everyone he guards, in particular, Kobe Bryant.

Bruce Bowen, no question!!

In every game, he is put on the biggest scoring threat. Kobe one day, then Nowitski the next.

Ben Wallace, etc can't do that!

He never gets the stats, ie blocks, steals, etc but gets under their skin, denies them the ball and always gets out on the shot.

kirilenko when healthy... the guy is a freak. hes got ridiculous long arms, great ups, and terrific defensive awareness. a 5/5 is having at least 5 of each of the 5 major categories (pts, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks) and they are much rarer than triple doubles. kirilenko is the only person with any in the past 5 years i believe, hes good for 2 or 3 every year.

Whoever stated Kobe is a genius. he's not underrated in the NBA, or maybe via people who stick to the NBA, because of the fact he has been picked to the All-protecting group varied circumstances. inspite of the undeniable fact that, to the informal observer and non-Laker fan, he's somewhat underrated. attempt #sixty 9 or possibly #ninety six. Do something random, and don't %. 23, its the main overused style in the history of sons and daughters everywhere.

Tossup between Wallace and Artest. I think Artest is more of an athletic defender, while Wallace is in a intimidating prescence in the paint, and voracious rebounder.

It was kirilenko last night against the lakers, but it probably is ben wallace. I mean to be 6'7 and one of the greatest centers in the game, you gotta have good D

I'd say it's between Bowen and Artest. Both are relentless on the defensive end, get in their opponents head and close down on pretty much anyone they guard.
